Jorgen Van Laer welcomes master Koen De Backer as junior partner in criminal law department
Koen De Backer graduated with distinction as Master of Laws from the University of Antwerp. After an 11-year career at the public prosecutor's office, he made the switch to the legal profession in 2017, where he has since been focusing on criminal law with all its facets.
Koen combines extensive knowledge of criminal (procedural) law with strong analytical skills and sharp pleading. He is also the author of several legal publications. Koen is also active as a teaching assistant in criminal law at KU Leuven. He holds the certificate special training in Cassation Procedure in Criminal Cases and is certified in providing assistance in interrogation.
Through his mix of experience, both on the prosecution and defense side, Koen brings a unique baggage to Bannister. So that extensive knowledge and unique mix of competencies are an absolute power up for our firm.
